Uncle Sam Fourth of July cupcakes
Since it’s June, I’m just going to say we’re officially in summer. I mean, that’s what my son thinks anyway. There are so many cookouts and parties over the next several weeks, and I love a good dessert. Even better when that dessert fits a theme – like these Fourth of July Uncle Sam cupcakes. Though, I’m pretty certain you could whip these up for any summer gathering – not just the Fourth. Am I right?
I think the Uncle Sam cupcake kit is really cute and you can sometimes find it on Walmart’s website (so it’s easy to order!) If the set is not available through Walmart (Amazon hasn’t had it in a while), I recommend getting the following to decorate the cupcakes: Candy eyes, patriotic cupcake liners and patriotic cupcake toppers.
The recipe is fairly simple – you can use a mix for the cupcakes and a store bought icing. No need to stress over this – we’re supposed to be enjoying summer!
Ingredients for patriotic cupcakes:
- Uncle Sam Cupcake Kit (This set has been sold out for a while, so I recommend the below items for decorations)
- Candy eyes
- Patriotic cupcake liners
- Patriotic cupcake toppers (this set has hats similar to what is in the photos in this post.)
- White Cake Mix
- Eggs
- Vegetable Oil
- Cupcake Icing
- Cherry Pie Filling
How to make Uncle Sam-inspired cupcakes:
After gathering all of your ingredients, you will first make the cake mix according to box directions.
Fill your cupcake wrappers a little over halfway full. Bake your cupcakes according to box directions.
Once your cupcakes are cool, use a coring tool (or use a knife if you don’t have one) to take the center out of your cupcakes.
Fill the center of your cupcakes with cherry pie filling. (blueberry would be awesome too!)
Pipe icing onto your cupcake.
Add the eyeballs and paper hat included in the Uncle Sam cupcake kit. Enjoy!
The trickiest part of the Uncle Sam cupcakes might be adding the filling. (But, really, it isn’t super challenging.)
And the end result is totally worth it. All of your friends and family will love this summer treat.
What do you take to cookouts and summer parties? Desserts? Appetizers? Or do you go big and volunteer for an entrée? I like to stick to desserts and snack foods (so appetizers.)

Those are seriously almost too cute to eat. What a fun idea. I am totally going to make these for our big July 4th cookout.
What an adorable patriotic cupcake! I love those adorable little red, white, and blue liners.
I love finding new cupcake papers. This one is so cute, as are your adorable cupcakes!
These are absolutely adorable! Almost too cute to eat. As someone who loves cherries, they also sound delicious. These will definitely become a talking point at any celebration. Although I am not a big dessert person, I am still a softie for all things cheesecake! Enjoy your holiday and your celebration.
These are so adorable! I’m Canadian but I’m going to share this with my American friends. Maybe I can come up with a Canadian version for our 150th this year.
How fun are these cupcakes? They are perfect for the 4th, and I have a few kiddos who would adore these.
Those cupcakes are so cute! I love the surprise center. What a taste treat.
Those cupcakes are the cutest things ever! I love how the US go all out to be patriotic!
There is just something about cupcakes that is hard for me to resist. Bring them on!
